My name is Scott McMurrain, and I was born and raised in Florida. My dad was a farmer, and I grew loving the land and wanting to follow in his footsteps. But fate stepped in, and my career took a very different path.
I moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 1989, and started a computer business. I sold it to a dot.com in 2000, and relocated to Texas. Like most dot.com’s of that time, it went bust within a year, and I started a new software company.
I lived in Texas for 11 years before moving to Virginia in 2011. I am a single father raising two children, Tyler and Sydney, and reside in Fishersville, Virginia.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas, and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. Although I am a licensed attorney, I am not currently practicing.
I own RDS Control Systems, a software development company that creates software for restaurant delivery services. Our software is used by businesses throughout the United States.
I am very active with the Lions Club. I joined the Staunton Lions Club in 2011, shortly after moving to Virginia. I have served as club Treasurer, Secretary, and three terms as club President. I also served as District Governor for MD-24L in 2019-2020.
A lifelong Republican, I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Our party has been heading in the wrong direction for the past thirty years, and I can’t stay silent. We need to take action to restore the core values on which our party was founded.
